Hello friends I hope you all are doing great. In this post, we will discuss the Difference Between Conduction and Convection. the variation of energy between the 2 systems caused due to temperature changes that is known as heat transformation. The heat transformation occurs from one place to another on its own from warm to cool the body. There are 2 common ways through which heat transformation occurs first one is convection and the second one is conduction.
If there is a connection between the 2 objects heat will transfer from one body to the other called conduction and in convection, there is a physical connection that occurs between two bodies. So let’s get started with the Difference Between Conduction and Convection.
Difference Between Conduction and Convection
Conduction
- Conduction is a process through which energy gets transferred from one body to another through a physical connection.
- This phenomenon occurs in liquids, gases, and solids. This process occurs with high speed in solids due to close connection among the particles of solids
- In liquids and solids, this phenomenon occurs but is less efficient due to space among the particles.
- Heat due to condition occurs if the particle’s temperature rises due to that the do vibration and that vibration causes the movement energy to move to other particles close to that area.
- The basic example of heat conduction is if you touch a hot pan this touching pan causes the transfer of conduction heat.
- The other type of conduction is the conduction of electricity that exists due to the motion of electrical changed particles exist in the material.
- Due to this motion current is generated that can be created due to electrons and ions.
- The current moving through the wires is an example of conduction due to electricity.
Convection
- Convection is the phenomenon through which heat is transferred due to the movement of particles in fluids like liquids and gases.
- The basic heat transformation occurs due to conditions but in large amounts, heat transformation occurs due to the movement of fluids.
- This phenomenon occurs only in fluids like gas and liquids.
- This process can be occurred on its own or through the application of any force.
- it needed a large amount of fluids transformation.
- There are 2 main types of convection.
Forced convection:
- If the exterior medium is used like pumps or fans for the occurrence of convection called forced convection example of this process is used for a fan in hot weather.
Natural convection:
- Convection occurs due to the difference among the densities due to the temperatures is called natural convection example of this process is oceanic winds.
What are conduction and convection with an example?
- Heat transfer from one side of a solid to another side is called conduction. Such as in silver, copper, etc. The process where heat transfer occurs due to the movement of particles from one part to another part is called convection and an example is a water molecule.
What are the 3 examples of convection?
- Hot air rises on a fire.
- Ice melting.
- The sea breeze is caused by a difference in pressure.
Conduction vs Convection
Conduction
- It is a process in which heat transfers through the connection of particles.
- Heat from high temperature to low temperature.
- It is a slower process than convection.
- It occurs in solid
- Temperature and kinetic energy are the main factors that affect conduction.
Convection
- It is a heat transmission process where heat transfers with particle movement.
- Heat flow from the low dense side to the high dense side.
- It is a fast process then conductive occurs in solid
- It exists in liquids and gases.
- A basic example is the melting of ice.
What can stop convection?
- Insulated materials have low conductivity and low heat losses through conduction. The materials avoid the flow of air at the inner side and reduce heat losses through convection.
What is a short answer to conduction?
- The conduction process involves heat energy transfer through the collision of atoms or molecules. It is a speedy process in solids and liquids and gasses have a slow process.
