How to read resistor color code?
Color bands are an easy source to show the value of electronic components. The printed alphanumeric codes will be small for reading on small resistors, so the color code was used in the 1920s for resistor values.
For reading value follow these points.
- There is a larger gap that exists before the tolerance band. So set a larger group on the left side and read resistors from left to right.
- Normally tolerance of the resistor is about 5 percent or 10 percent. These values are marked with metallic colors, gold or silver, respectively. But the resistor color code is not started from these colors, if there is a metallic color on the resistor, it is a tolerance value, it must be set on the right side. Read the resistor from left to right.

Colors denote the power of 10 through which the number made with the use of the previous band must be product. We can define the multiplier with prefixes such as kilo, mega, or giga with the scientific notation used
The last band that exists in all resistors 4, 5, and 6 bands is used as the tolerance band. It is used to define the percentage, and changes in component resistance is mostly statistical in nature.

How To Read the 10K Resistor Color Code
Here we will use 4 4-band resistors to read the color coding of 10k resistor.
- The first band denotes the first digit of the resistance value, with the color brown is 1.
- 2nd band is 2nd digit of the resistance value, which has a black color and the digit is 0. This digit is put at the right of the first digit from band 1 making 10.
- 3rd band is a multiplier that multiplies digits from bands one and two through value shown by color. The real multiplier is 10^n, here n is the value of the band color. Let’s suppose the 3rd band is orange and defines the number 3 the multiplier will be 10^3 = 1,000.
- So the combined resistance value get from these colors is 10 x 1,000 Ω = 10,000 Ω, which is defined as 10kΩ.
- 4th band is tolerance, tha shows tolerance for the resistor, normally defined as 5 percent or 10 percent. If there is a last band of gold then the value is 10kΩ ± 5% Ω. and for the last silver band value is 10kΩ ± 10% Ω.

In a 10k resistor with 5 bands, the first 3 bands are brown, black, and black (denoting 100), 4th band is brown and denoting a multiplier of x10.

Use Of 10k Resistor
voltage Dividers
The 10k resistor works as the main component in voltage divider circuits and is mostly used in electronics. The voltage divider is used to split input voltage in accurate fractions, offering reference voltage to other components.
