Difference Between Core Type and Shell Type Transformer
- The core transformer has a circuit having two vertical limbs and two horizontal structures known as yokes and these limbs come with winding that structure is called a core type transformer and a type transformer has one mid limb and two external limbs primary and secondary windings are wounded on the central limb
- Winding surrounds the core of the transformer for the core transformer and shell-type transformers has magnetic core around the windings
- In a core transformer, U and I-shaped cores is used, and in a shell transformer U shaped or in some cases E or I-shaped core used
- The rectangle shape core used in the shell transformer and core type transformer has a square core
- There are two limbs and two yoks for the core transformer and shell type transformer has 3 limbs and 2 yokes
