R454 B is an HVAC refrigerant that comes with a 68.9% R-32 (difluoromethane) and 31.1% R-1234yf (tetrafluoropropene) mixture.
It is also known as an A2L refrigerant, which has low toxicity and normal flammability features that are controlled with sensors installed at the site.
454b refrigerant is best for new air conditioners and heat pumps. It offers proper cooling from the carrier with a smaller carbon footprint.

No, R22 uses Freon as a brand name, while r454b comes with the brands Opteon™ XL41, Solstice® 454B, and Forane® 454B.
R-454B effect on environments
r454b is energy-efficient, minimizes greenhouse gases occurring from electricity usage, and refrigerants offer low GWP.
r454b does not affect ozone depletion potential, with low toxicity. But GWP is 75 percent less than older refrigerant.
But it is energy-efficient and a new HVAC industry standard in residential air conditioners and heat pumps.

R454B is a mixture of 69.5% difluoromethane (R32) and 30.5% pentafluoroethane (R125). That mixture causes less ozone depletion potential refrigerant, having less effect on the environment compared to other refrigerants, for example, R410A, R407C, and R134A.
How does the Montreal Protocol affect the application of R410A and R454B?
The Montreal Protocol, used for the protection of the ozone layer, comes with a phasedown schedule for hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) to control effects on the environment.
For this phase-down, Havac Industry uses an environmentally friendly refrigerant with less ozone depletion.
R45b refrigerant is the best replacement for R410a since it fulfills all requirements and is part of the ALTERNATE program according to the SNAP (Significant New Alternatives Policy) program.
Can R-410A be replaced with R-454B?
R410a is not used as a replacement for R454b units. A system that uses R410 is not supported for the R454b refrigerant since it has different pressure features and safety requirements. With that, the R-454B system needed certain safety parameters, like a dissipation system working effectively, to manage leaks that are not offered with R-410A.
