- The LM338 is a variable DC power supply component and for volts range from 1.2 to thirty volts
- It has the ability to handle a load of five to ten amperes. As compared to other power supply circuits like LM217 it has a larger value of current value

Components of Project
- The component used in the project is explained here. The schematic of the projects is drawn by the PCBWAY designer on the PCB board. I send the Gerber file to get the board configuration with reasonable prices and great accuracy
- Capacitor 1 has a capacitance of ten micro Farad
- Capacitor 2 has 4.7 micro Farad
- Resistance Rx of one twenty ohm value
- Two diodes denoted as Dx and Dy of 1N4007 nature
- One variable resistance is used of one-kilo ohm value

- A diode is an electronic component that converts alternating current to direct current through a rectification process and allows current to flow in one direction only.
- The operation of a diode is similar to that of a check valve which allows liquid to flow in one direction only, similarly current flows through a diode in only one direction
- The diode is made of a combination of two different semiconductor materials P and N.
- The P side of the semiconductor is positive and is called the anode, and the N side of the diode is negative and is called the anode.
- Because of the high-temperature bears, silicon is used in diode construction, but germanium is also used to make diodes when less voltage drop is needed.
LM338 Variable Power Supply Working
- The main component of this project is the variable voltage regulator LM338 which has three pinouts. Its pinout no 1 is attached to the variable resistors and another terminal of variable resistances linked to the ground. The value of potential resistance helps to set the value of output
- The variable voltage supply that can be regulated from 1.5 volts to thirty-five volts is linked to pin no 3 of the LM338 regulator.
- Pin 2 of voltage regulator LM338 linked ot the output part of the circuitry.
- In the circuit, there are two diodes dented as Dx and Dy are used for the rectification process as will do the reverse protection of components used in the circuits.
- Two capacitors are used in the circuit for removing the ripples existing in the output to make the pure volts without any spikes.
- Capacitor 1 is used as a bypass capacitor and capacitor 2 is used to show the output.
- Pure supply is given at capacitor 2 used for operating the devices in the range of 1.2 to thirty-two volts since at output we provided the 1.5 to thirty-five volts
- All these components are assembled on the PCB board created from the PCBWAY to make regulated power supply
