Hello, guys welcome to new post. In this post, we will cover the Introduction to MID400. It optocoupler that is used for monitoring of ac line to logic power line. Its function is that if its output volts are low then it is detecting ac volts and if high then there is no volts exist.
These features make it effective for applications like ac to dc regulation applications and solenoid applications. Today we will cover the basic of its working features and some other points. SO let get started with Introduction to MID400.
Introduction to MID400
- The MID400 is used for AC to logic interfacing and comes with features of optical isolation.
- Its packaging is dual in line and has eight pinouts. For monitoring the AC vols there are 2 GaAs LED are configured in series combination
- The high-value drain detecting circuit detects the LED current and rin the output configured gate terminal to less level conditions.
- Its configured for monitoring the ac line. So it is preferred for AC to DC regulation circuits where some paramerts like less frequency, less power TTL compatibility needed
Features of MID400
- It offered a variable time delay that can change the outer level
- It comes with outer variable ac volts detecting
- It comes with features of logic-level ability
- It comes in eight dual in-line packing and SMD
- Its led operation input current is plus-minus thirty milliamps
- Forward volts loss for LED is 1.5 volts
- On and off time is one millisecond
- its output volts is 0.18 volts and the output current is twenty milliamperes
- Input volts is seven volts
- Its common applications of monitoring the ac power line
MID400 Pinout
- Its common applications are discussed here
- Pin 1 ac line link to these pins that are under the monitoring
- Pin 2, and 4 are not used in circuits
- Pin 5 is the ground terminal
- Pin 6 is the output terminal
- Pin 7 was used to vary the ac volts and added the time delay
- Pin 8 is input volts
MID400 Applications

MID400 Working
The MID400 is an AC line monitor integrated circuit that has a phase and neutral wire connection with the first and 3rd pin with the use of a RIN resistor. If AC voltage exists then pin 6 will be low and in the absence of voltage, pin will be high.
The AC line and output voltage are isolated with outcoupling features. Here you can see the circuit.
The resistor Rin used for limiting current in AC lines value of the resistor can measured with the use of the equation
RIN = Vin-VfIin
Vin is the input RMS voltage for the AC line, Vs forward voltatge losses for the inner LED and lin is the input current used for operating the inner LED.
The output of PIN 6 is an open collector pin and uses pull-up resistor is 300 ohm connected with Vc pin. A capacitor connected with PIN 7 is used for setting the sensing level and time delay of output.
What is the main advantage of an optocoupler?
How to test if an optocoupler is working?
Through the use of a multimeter check the continuity between the black connector and the below-marked pin of the optocoupler input that not operating. If no continuity exists then can result in an optocoupler is not connected accurately
that is all about the MID400 details has explained if you have any further queries ask in the comments. Thanks for reading have a good day
