History Of The 1978 Silver Dollar
It is known as the silver dollar but the 1878 silver dollar is not completely made with silver. Dollar coins were made with silver in some other years, but 1878 was not made.

1978 Struck On Defective Planchet
The dollar coins of P mint 1978 were struck on the defective planchet. Cladding is not bonded accurately to the metal strip causing the front side of coin to come with a copper tone. Most details are removed on Eisenhower’s portrait.

1978 (P) No Mint Mark Dollar, 10 Percent Brockage
